Very dissapointed...the food was horrible...I went here based on yelp's reviews and boy I was wrong. I wasn't expecting San Fran, Flushing, Chicago or even Las Vegas Chinese food but I had no idea why they have such great reviews...Their Yangchow friend was seasoned with either hondashi(fish stock spice) or MSG...Panda express would have had better fried rice..their dumplings tasted horrible too..how can you go wrong with a simple dumpling dish..It tasted like they took it out of a freezer and microwaved it. I would never go back again...

Lovely first trip to Jeng Chi.My friend I ordered the Small Juicy Dumplings, Green Onion Pancake, and Eggplant w/Pork & Garlic Sauce...all delicious and filling enough for two. Well, I would've gotten another entree and overeaten, but my friend was being good, so I held back. Still filling. Oh, and we had dessert too: an egg and a chocolate tart--both yum.I was really impressed by that entree. The sauce was both flavorful and subtle. The eggplant was really tender, and, although the pork was a minor part of the dish, it accented it well. This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill Americanized crap.I loved the food and the vibe, and the service was great too. I'm gonna daydream about it until I return...want...to...eat...everything.

No one has ever called me a Chinese language scholar, but I think Jeng Chi means dumpling paradise, a land where the eggplant is ultra flavorful and the zest of the orange beef induces nirvana. So, yes, I think place is the best thing since those shoes with the wheel in the heel (Heeleys™) Potstickers, dumplings, eggplant are all things that you have to try. Great value and the food is very fresh.

A recent visit to Jeng Chi has improved my opinion of their menu. While they may not be the best at dumplings, Jeng Chi makes up for it in sheer variety. Soup, steamed, fried, and boiled dumplings are the main draw at this establishment, and they have a nice menu of Taiwanese/Chinese and Americanized favorites too. Service was much more attentive than I last remembered it, and there were no issues with communication either. A Saturday dinner revealed how much Jeng Chi's popularity has grown with the locals; the diners represented a broad cultural mix. Prices are extremely reasonable and great for family dining on a budget. Will go again!

Let me start out by saying that I don't even like Chinese food. I order it maybe once a year. Now I can't wait to return to this location and have some more.I went here with coworkers so I didn't select the place. It's in a strip mall full of many other asian restaurants, bubble tea places, and the like. Nothing about the appearance of this place, inside or out, stands out but the food is what will bring you back.We shared a bunch of entrees and got to sample a wide variety of menu options. The sweet & sour fish entree was amazing. It was like crack...you couldn't stop at just one piece. I don't even eat fish and I'm still thinking about this entree. I don't care if you don't like fish...order it anyways. Amazing. We also had a variety of dumplings...all of which were delicious. I have no idea which one was which. They were all good. We got one of those potato pancakes...green onion. Mild but quite tasty. Nobody really touched the rice that was ordered...the fried rice was just average. Wouldn't order again. There were a few noodle dishes brought out but sadly I can't name any of them...they were solid. The place is BYOB. The atmosphere is pretty bland and the service is nothing special. We were a large party but had no complaints.Food: 5/5.Ambiance: 2/5.Service: 3/5Value: Unknown, I didn't pick up the check.Food was just that good...I don't care about any of the other factors. Just want to go back and get more of that delicious food.

This place has great steamed dumplings and onion pancakes. We used to go weekly but the last time got charged for hot water! Can you believe it?! I brought in my own tea bag and they didn't like not being able to charge me for THEIR tea! In China, by the way, you aren't charged for tea; that comes with the meal. We haven't returned.

We have been going to Jeng Chi for the last 4 years, and we have never had a bad meal, yes the service is a little off sometimes, but hell that what makes it fun, and keeps me coming back. We were there last sat (02/02/13) night the place was packed, we waited on about 7 mins, which is perfectly fine with me. The food and the staff keep me coming back. But also the customers, I have never seen this happen before, there was a crying / screaming child looked to be a new born. OK Im not kid friendly, the young mother and father walked the little baby around but the little one didnt stop screaming. I felt bad for them, really, you could tell they were embarrassed. Then the most lovely thing happened, a woman who looked to be someones grandmother or great grandmother, took the crying baby and started singing to it, It was a magical Hallmark moment, the baby stopped crying. It was wonderful. The part that makes Jeng Chi so wonderful besides the food, is the people that go there, they are from all walks of life, rich / poor. Its every one. Jeng Chi is one the best places Ive eaten, period.I have never had a bad meal here before. Give it a try you will be happy up did

Been coming here since I've moved to DFW metroplex 19 years ago. Back then, it was half the size before their expansion.Being an airline employee, I've had my share of travel for work and personal. Whether it's comparing to some of the best in NY, CA or even China, this is still one of my favorite of all being that it's clean, and the food is great (a combination that's hard to find per my wife's standard).Just got back from a trip from Los Angeles for more than a week. Had more than my share of good Chinese food there as we ate out every other meal. Have to say that Jeng Chi is still on top of my list for being clean, reasonable priced, and just good old home cooking freshness that's hard to beat.Over the years, I've tried the food on half of the menu, and they are all good. Only thing changed is that the food portion maybe little smaller now, but it's really no different than other restaurants I've been to.Our favorites everytime are beef stew noodle, onion fried pancake, steam buns, and green beans stirfry with pork. From there, we usually add 1 or 2 other new dish, and it's always good.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the entire Metroplex! Very authentic and great service. The food is very fresh and the service is good and although it can be a bit crowded you never feel particularly rushed. I highly recommend this place!

I was a huge fan of this place before my trip to Beijing and now I love it even more as its very authentic. The location is a richardson strip mall with other good Chinese/Vietnamese/Japanese restaurants and grocery stores. They are all pretty casual and Jung chi is no exception. Family owned with basic table filled with all ages, kids, teenagers, adults. They are most known for the "small juicy dumplings" which are similar to soup dumplings and they are a MUST!!!!They come out steaming so be careful....popping the whole thing in your mouth immediately never a good idea. They have great choices of other dumplings too and I've tried them all. Over the many visits I've tried quite a few of their dishes and never been disappointed. It's so cheap too...you can order and order and eat and eat and still only come to $20Don't expect anything fancy but do expect amazing food with friendly service!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon looking to try their soup dumpling variety as well as their other dumpling varieties. Three orders was just enough between my girlfriend and I and really you can't beat the price. Located in a strip mall full of other Asian stores and a supermarket so it was quite a busy parking lot. Fortunately it was easy enough to get a spot.I should say that they don't really serve soup dumplings here but a mini munchkin size version of it and they call them Small Juicy Dumplings. They definitely were small and juicy and required the soup spoon method to avoid losing all that juicy soup so good stuff. The other two dumplings we tried were the Pork & Leek Boiled Dumplings and Hot Pot Stickers. The Pork & Leek that were like the small juicy dumplings except it was green and didn't have the juicy part. Still good though along with the Gyoza.Really great place for someone looking for expensive food to fill yourself up. Interesting enough they also combined a bakery section that you pass through on your way in so you can get some dessert on your way out.

We had the pancake, sao long boa, and eggplant with garlic. The pancake with scallions was very bland. It was just fried dough, hardly any flavor. The sao long bao (soup dumplings) was better than other places who claim they can make them. At least theirs had soup in it and stayed in it. Most other places claim there's soup in it, but once you eat it, all the soup has been drained out. The eggplant with garlic was probably the best dish but it was super oily! The absolute best soa long boa is still in NYC but unfortunately, I don't live there. I will just have to keep looking. I'm getting closer though.

Best dumplings in Dallas! And cheap too! We usually leave stuffed but spend only about $8 to $12 per person (more boys = more food). The dumplings come up hot and steamy, and taste delicious. The service is pretty good too, although sometimes communication with the waitresses can be a bit difficult due to the language barrier.I recommend the hot and spicy wontons and pork and shrimp steamed dumplings. A lot of people tell me their small juicy dumplings are good too, but I have yet to try them.

I often eat here at least a few times a month, whether dine-in or take-out, and my absolute favorite dishes here are the small juicy dumplings and curry chicken with rice. The owners are the friendliest people ever, and the food always comes out super quick! It's a small family restaurant, and even though they've had some remodeling recently, the food is still good and service still as friendly as ever! If you come here, you absolutely must try the small juicy dumplings (something they are famous for), and if you try the curry chicken (which I highly recommend), ask them first if they have it, since it is a popular dish and there are nights I've been there where they have run out, and I'm told a little while later after I have ordered. Other than that though, everything here is great. Great food at a good price with good service...I definitely recommend!!

Finally tried this place with my fiancé and we love dumplings so maybe it was a bad idea coming here overly hungry since we ended up wanting to try everything therefore ordering way more than we could've ate.We tried the green onion pancake and leek turnover because of all the great reviews on these two items but these weren't as good as the other items we tried.XLB were delicious and juicy. Be careful when eating them though because the soup is hot and can burn when you bite into them although that was my fault for being way too excited to try them. The other dumplings we got were the shrimp and pork steamed dumplings. Yummy! I think could eat these dumplings all day and the potstickers were tasty but can't really go wrong with potstickers. Also, don't forget about their pastries near the register. I tried the eggtart with the fruits and it's pretty good. Also, they're super cheap!Next time I come back, I think I'm going to try their eggplant dish. Looks good!

The food came out super quick, my husband was a bit concerned it wasn't going to be good. But, surprise, surprise, surprise! Everything was delicious. Except the juicy dumplings, not a fan. I absolutely love Jeng Chi! It is one of my favorite places to go for authentic Chinese food. It's a great place to go on a date or with a large group of people. It's definitely affordable too per person. One entree will fill you up and they are usually all under $10.I usually start off with with the Green Onion Pancakes and the Small Juicy Dumplings! The Green Onion Pancakes are always so crisp and flavorful. If you are a really picky eater and new to Chinese cuisine I would definitely recommend this. It's not TOO out there in terms of what it is/flavor and one serving is enough for 2-4 people to share! The Small Juicy Dumplings are amazing as well. They come with a ginger dipping sauce (sometimes they only give you one and other times they give one per person). I like to leave my dumplings in there for about a minute or so for the dumplings to really soak in that ginger. But beware! It can be hot. It's great without the dipping sauce as well.As for entrees, I have a couple of favorites that I get every time. If you're in the mood for soup I recommend the Dark Broth Beef Noodle Soup. It's a bit spicy but it's perfect for the colder weather. If you like veggies you HAVE to get the Eggplant With Pork and Garlic Sauce. WOW. This is AMAZING. It's not too oily or saucy. It's just right. And the eggplant is cooked perfectly! It's not too tough or too squishy. Their Stir Fried String Bean With Ground Pork is great as well. You get a hefty amount of green beans so this is usually something I like to order along side a meat heavy dish. And finally, another favorite of mine is Chili Pepper Dried Tofu WIth Pork and Shrimp. I realize all of these are pretty much pork dishes BUT IT IS OH SO GOOD.When I go I usually end up spending around $25 or so but I'm usually eating with my boyfriend and we order a lot of food. The staff is very nice and the restaurant is generally very clean. I love the atmosphere. Sometimes it can get really busy and the waiters may forget to come back and refill your water but I don't really see that as a problem.

I came here yesterday and ordered some Xiao long bao and hot tea. I wasn't particularly very hungry at the time. The dumplings were very good and very tasty. Loved the dipping sauce with them. They were so moist I did break one or two which made me rather sad but oh well. The inside of the restuarants does look nice and they did have some nice looking pasteries. The jasmine tea was aweful and not worth $1.50. The main reason it tasted so bad is the water was bad. So yeah don't order the tea. I even told the lady at the front when she asked was everything alright. And I told her what was wrong with tea. I felt like her reaction was the kind of reaction "I see well whatever come again."That has always annoyed me from anyone. Don't ask me if everything is alright if you can't handle a little constructive criticism . Your glaring makes me uncomfortable and I get tired of it after awhile. My waitress seemed nice but overall just the atmosphere of the place made me uncomfortable. Most of their staff just seems unprofessional and impatient.I'm giving this place a generous three stars. But I think as much as I loved the dumplings I'm going somewhere else.

The Xiao Long Bao wasn't as good as the ones I've had at Din Tai Fung in LA but they hit the spot. All of the servers were very polite and nice. They were accommodating and brought out forks for those who had problems with their chopsticks. For a bakery they only offer their tarts and such to go on the weekends, but they did have some packaged mooncakes and macaroons that were all right.

Ate here for the first time last week. The Dumplings are great! I really liked the small juicy dumplings. I also ordered a steamed dumpling combo. The combo had 4 diff kinds of dumplings, the veggie, the chicken, the pork and napa, and the shrimp and pork. I loved the shrimp and pork and the pork and napa, the veggie was good too. I didn't care for the chicken as much. My son also ordered pan fried pot stickers that I thought was lacking in flavor. We also had the green onion pancake which was ok. Def great place for dumplings! The reason it only gets 3 stars is because this is not a clean restaurant and the service is hit or miss. When the waitress seated us I noticed that the table looked dirty. I could see finger prints on the table and it felt greasy there was also clearly some kind of dried, sticky looking substance dribbled on the table. When I notified the waitress that had seated us she argued with me about it!! I moved us to another table. She looked very unhappy after that and made me feel uncomfortable. But whatever, I am used to getting spotty service at inexpensive asian restaurants. Thankfully there was another waitress that stepped in and she was great! Also the bathroom was gross.I may return to this restaurant, but I have a feeling there are better places...My search continues!

You walk in to some delicious looking bakery goodies. I haven't tried anything from there yet, but wow, it sure looked good. Had to focus and eat lunch!Service was rather slow paced. Maybe they were tired from a big lunch crowd... but we tried the Pork, Shrimp & Leek Boiled Dumplings, Chicken Steamed Dumplings, and Combination Fried Rice. Pork, Shrimp & Leek Boiled Dumplings won. This place serves authentic Chinese food and it's among the best I've had in DFW. My favorite dishes here are the Siu Long Bao (they call them Juicy Steamed Dumplings) and Green Onion Pancakes, which I think are far ahead of the competition in this area. The buns are perfectly sized with a decent amount of soup. It goes excellently with the vinegar sauce that's mixed with julienne ginger. The green onion pancakes are a little different that the ones I'm normally used to as they are extremely thick (it almost had the same consistency as ciabatta bread) but the aroma and flavor were still all there. They are extra crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside..just the way I like it! I almost want to say that I like this variation of the famous Taiwanese dish better than the traditional way of preparing it thin. You may also want to give the Ma Po Tofu a shot. The tofu is soft and the ratio with the minced pork is right on.Overall, you're going to get a great bang for your buck here. Lunchtime on the weekends are crazy and you're probably going to find yourself waiting if you don't get there before 12pm. Also, this place is BYOB but they will charge 50 cents per glass.

We tried this place for the first time on a Saturday night after reading Yelp reviews. The shopping mall where the restaurant is located has a lot of different places to try--Korean, Thai, Taiwanese, Canton, Sichuan, so we'll be back.We started with the green onion pancakes and I thought that they were outstanding. Also outstanding was the sweet and sour soup and the little juicy dumplings. The pot stickers were good but they fell apart too easily and a dipping sauce would be much appreciated. The order was too big--10 for $5.95--more than one person can or should eat.The egg roll was the most vile, disgusting egg roll I have ever had in my life. It seemed to be filled with large chunks of beef gristle. Plus it was completely flavorless. It was beyond horrible. We tried the fruit and chocolate tarts for dessert and loved them, especially the chocolate. Yum.Service was fast and efficient even though the place was completely packed. All of the food was served piping hot.The prices are extremely reasonable. We definitely will return.

I was craving soup dumplings so we decided to give this place a try. It was good overall but I wasn't too impressed with the XLB.My favorite item of the evening was the green onion pancake even though I prefer it thinner and crisipier compared to their version, which is a bit thick and chewy. The flavors were there though and it was quite tasty. The wonton soup was up next and it was a very generous portion. This is great for a chilly winter day with plump wontons full of pork. My boyfriend had the cold noodles with chicken thanks to the Yelp reviews and he thought it was fantastic. The small juicy dumplings, as the XLB are called here, were disappointing. There was not enough broth and too much pork filling. The broth itself is not very flavorful and as others have pointed out, they serve them on banana leaves and some of the dumplings stick to it, causing the skin to break and the broth to leak out. Next time I will try one of the other dumplings.Service was fine and the prices here are very reasonable. I will be back but will probably give some of the other restaurants in the area a try first.

Xio long bao- it was good, but I've had better at another Dallas restaurant off Royal/Preston Rd. But Jeng Chi's xio long bao is bigger in size. This alone, it would be 3 stars. It's steamed on a banana leaf, so when it gets stuck, try to take it off the leaf too hard, the skin of the dumpling breaks and the "soup" leaks out. The dumpling itself didn't have much flavor to it, especially the soup.4 stars because of their egg tart. I've been searching far and wide in the DFW area for egg tarts, and this place right here makes the BEST one thus far. The crust isn't too thick. The egg custard has that aroma/taste that I've been looking for. I would definitely make the 45 minute drive out here on a weekend just for their egg tarts alone! Sesame balls w/ red bean were great, but a little on the greasy side. Their chicken pie is yummy, wish there was a bit more filling to it.(The sole reason why I even tried out this place was because someone had posted an egg tart picture on Yelp. Thanks!)
